I wrote my first ever guest post over at Hobo SEO Blog. No, It’s not about SEO….. it’s about my true love, Social Media.
Shaun asked if I would write a post on how to get involved in Social Media and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I don’t write about the basics of Social Media often enough. I have a tendency to get too advanced or talk about special techniques. It was nice to get back to the basics.
Social Media can be very intimidating for many, so I broke down the process into four steps making the process a bit easier to handle.
- Figuring out what you want to get out of Social Media
- Creating your Profiles
- Learning the Community
- Becoming an Active Part of the Community

Hi Shana,
congratulations with your first ever guest post. And not a small one either I may add. But a nice rundown of the basics.
Maybe you could add to watch out not to get too carried away or addicted to it. Certainly in the beginning.

Nice blog. Just found you from the link at Hobo Web. I really like the table splitting the uses of the different social components for personal and company level activity. I also gave you a vote as Shaun suggested I should.

@Max - Thank you for the Congrats!! It was a lot of fun to get back to Social Media basics on the Hobo Blog. And, you are so right about the Social Media Addiction thing…. been there, done that. It is very easy to fall into the all-consuming Social Media thing. It is all about managing your time and knowing when to say, “Enough”. But, that is a very difficult thing at times. I have to give Full Props to Flickr which to my mind is still thee Shining Light of the Web2.0 Universe - they make it very EZ for people from all over the World to Communicate on every subject imaginable + also See some Great Photography - also Fantastic cuz a lot of these Images can be used by Bloggers to get great interesting Visuals into their Blog Posts quickly + easily*
